Email marketing is the ideal instrument to send timely messages. And that without even moving a finger. If you have a working connection between the dates of your database and your email marketing platform, you can automatically go for a conversion.
You can use this for birthday messages, periodical maintenance, booked trips,… We received this excellent example from Andel’s hotel in Berlin. And we saw 10 reasons why this is a great example of a welcome message. Let’s dive in!
[1] Show the product. A picture of the room that you reserved immediately gets you in the holiday spirit. It is great for visibility and recognition, but it also gives you the feeling you’re already there. And maybe it gives you the feeling that you still need to take care of some things to have a great city trip. And that’s exactly what this message is trying to do.

[2] Of course they use a personalized salutation. It ins’t just a room, it is your room. And you’re not just a number. The more personal your message feels, the more welcome and important a guest will feel. And that’s all crucial to get a conversion later.

[3] Remind them of the date of the reservation. Did we get everything right? But is that date also right in the calendar of the guest? It would be a waste if we missed each other. And don’t forget to add a thank you. A guest needs to feel great, even before he walks through the door. And Andel’s even turns that into a promise in their copy.

[4] To take your service even further, we can also book a limousine to pick you up at the airport. Of course that will be charged to the room. But before you know it you get a click through. If your contact resisted the temptation, we gladly explain to you how to get to us by car.

[5] Maybe you would like something more than just a room? Why don’t you upgrade to the exclusive a.lounge with extra services. It isn’t being said with those exact words, but when you click through it becomes clear that it is a paid upgrade. The ideal moment to tempt the business traveler who missed the offer, to make an extra conversion.

[6] Of course you would also like to share the extra services that you offer. In this welcome message the hotel points out all the other possibilities, like their great restaurant, all with their own landing pages for more information (and to measure the interest!). Saves them time at the reception desk and it will help their guests to feel like home. Your contact will probably wait to eat until he arrives at the hotel.

[7] The hotel also has a spa. Of course they also include that in their welcome message. It can give the guest already some ideas, and maybe lead him to make a reservation.

[8] And sometimes guests have special wishes. This welcome messages gives those guests the opportunity to share those wishes with the hotel. Some fresh flowers on the table, a surprise on the pillow of the wife who is coming along, anything is possible. The really want to express that feeling. To seal the deal and form this special relationship between the guest and the hotel they offer you an email address and phone number for direct contact.

[9] Of course the hotel is present on social media. And they want to put that in the spotlight. If you click somewhere, please do it here. Become our friend on Facebook, so you can let the whole world know that you’re in Berlin, In the Andel’s hotel of course!

[10] Want to get a taste of all our other extras? Well here you can find the direct buttons to make a reservation. The more easy you make it for your contacts, the more likely you’ll get a conversion!
